“Let medicine be thy food and let food be thy medicine” – Hippocrates, father of modern medicineHow Healthy Do You Feel

The relevance of Hippocrates’ phrase is stronger than ever today. Despite the most advanced medical technology in the world, we are sicker than ever by nearly every measure. Obesity is on the rise. Two out of every three of us are overweight. Cases of diabetes are exploding, especially amongst our younger population. About half of us are taking at least one prescription drug. Major medical operations have become routine, draining the resources of our struggling NHS. Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the country’s three leading causes of death, even though billions are spent each year to “battle” these very conditions. Millions suffer from a host of other degenerative diseases too.

Could it be there’s a single solution to all of these problems? A solution so comprehensive, but so straightforward, that it’s mind-boggling that more of us haven’t taken it seriously? Any symptoms of ill health, including low energy is your body’s way of talking to you and telling you that something you are doing isn’t working. The starting point is to look at what you are eating and how it might be affecting you since you are built from the foods that you eat and different foods can support health, or promote imbalance and disease.

Wouldn’t we all like to know the exact foods to eat and not to eat to keep our skin glowing, waists trim, joints pain-free, moods stable, disease risk low and confidence sky high? You get the keto’s warring with the vegans, low/no carb/no fat/intermittent fasting camps leaving everyone scratching their heads on the sidelines. There is no such thing as one, universally, best diet. Having spent over 15 years working with thousands of clients, the fact is everyone is different. Everyone is unique in terms of body type, goals and limitations (physical or otherwise), eating experiences and preferences, budget, nutrition knowledge, ability to apply that knowledge, schedule, ethnic and cultural background, activity levels, environment and more. There is no one way of eating which is best for everyone. You only need look around the world to see there are many traditional diets associated with robust health despite being completely different in terms of composition from the Mediterranean diet to the traditional diets of the Arctic Inuit and African Masai to the diet of the Kitavans in the South Pacific to the islanders off the coast of New Zealand.

Once I have received your completed questionnaire and analysed your health history, current health status and eating habits, we design a personalised health improvement programme specifically for you, not based on food rules but food habits that you can stick to in the long run. I will help raise your nutrition awareness and attention so you think more about what you eat which will lead to better choices. The focus will be on food quality centred on whole, minimally processed, nutrient-dense foods, thereby eliminating nutrient deficiencies. Fix this and you start looking and feeling better pretty quickly.  I will help control appetite without any need for calorie counting or weighing food; when you eat minimally processed foods, you feel satisfied so you automatically eat less. I will help you get going with regular, purposeful exercise so you turn the food you eat into functional tissue instead of extra fat.  In short, I provide you with motivational coaching and real nutritional education. I teach you how to break bad habits and how to follow a quick and delicious food-packed eating plan. You won’t get hungry and it will set you up with a foundation for optimal health and wellbeing for the rest of your life.

We will look at:

  • Goal Setting: set your health, wellbeing, performance and weight loss goals
  • Health and Blood Sugar Questionnaires
  • Body Composition Analysis
  • Food Diary Analysis
  • Health improvement action plans including a structure for eating, menu plans and recipes
  • Motivational coaching tools to support you to change habits

What are the results?

Typically patients report significant improvements within 3 weeks in a range of areas such as mood, concentration, digestion, sleep, skin, anxiety, body fat levels and general wellbeing and feel more energetic than they have in years!

Without good health you can’t enjoy life fully, so you owe it to yourself and your family

to nourish yourself in a way that

provides the foundation for optimal health for life.
